Often times, I find myself flipping through my music playlists when I am: working out, traveling, and/or doing homework. Music is truly the ONLY form of media that helps me to focus on the tasks that I need to achieve.

In this week’s lecture/slides, we evaluated terms such as “selective exposure” and “mood management”. In particular, I was interested in HOW the media we choose helps us everyday tasks. Enter, “Mood Homeostasis”. Mood homeostasis is the process by which we selectively choose our media to keep us optimal when it comes to achieving tasks. Currently, as I am writing out this blog, I am listening to music to help keep me awake and to keep my thoughts processing in order to achieve this assignment.

Further, often times, I rely on melodies/tempos specifically to keep me focused on my task. From the gym, to school, and even work, music always helps me to channel extra motivation to help me achieve a task in its totality.
